Puntland will retake Lasanod, president says

The president of Puntland, semi-autonomous region in northeast Somalia Adde Muse Hersi said on Tuesday that its government would soon resume control of Lasanod city, the provincial capital of Sool region and recapture it from Somaliland, the break away republic in north of Somalia.

In a statement issued from the presidential house, the president said his government will reorganize its troops to regain control of Lasanod city and would force Somaliland troops to withdraw there.

Muse's words appeared that Puntland would not rule out to use force to retake Lasanod in which it lost it in the war with Somaliland last year.

The tension between Puntland and Somaliland on the disputed region of Sool is now high as troops of both sides fought killing dozens of people and wounded more others.
