Hillary
Rodham Clinton is a U.S. Senator from the state of New
York. She is a member of the Democratic Party, is
married to former President Bill Clinton, and was
defeated by Barack Obama in the Democratic primary in
the 2008 presidential race.
There for President-elect Barack Obama
is considering Hillary Rodham Clinton to be his
secretary of state, Democrats said Friday, exciting a
burst of speculation that he would transform the former
first lady and his fierce campaign foe into one of his
top Cabinet officials and the nation's chief diplomatic
voice.
Obama was silent and out of sight in Chicago, one day
after quietly meeting with Clinton at his headquarters
there. She addressed a transit conference in New York
and said emphatically, "I'm not going to speculate or
address anything about the president-elect's incoming
administration, and I'm going to respect his process."
