At the age of 12, Deeqo Jibril,
Founder of SCCA, came to the United States as a refugee.
Fleeing from the civil war in Somalia in 1991 and growing up
in the United States has given her the insight and expertise
to work with female Somali immigrants.. Deeqo’s personal &
professional experience gives her first hand knowledge about
how the system works and what is needed to effectively help
female Somali immigrants settle in the United States. Our
organization will offer a “safe haven” spot for these women
to come to and express their concerns. While dealing with
the cultural difference it is important that these woman
move forward and access health care, education, employment,
and all resources necessary to live independently.
